BEACHES

The Coromandel Peninsula has some of the worlds most beautiful beaches and we’re blessed here in Coroglen to have some of them within 15-20 minutes drive from the Tavern.

Hot Water Beach is famous for it’s surf break and the amazing natural hot water springs that bubble up right underneath the sand. Make sure you bring a spade or hire one from one of the local beach shops/cafes and start digging around LOW TIDE. You’ll be amazed and totally relaxed by this phenomenon a must do if you visit the Peninsula.

Cathedral Cove is located at Hahei, just 10 minutes drive from the famous Hot Water Beach. Only accessible by foot, boat or kayak this magical beach is surrounded by the Hahei marine reserve so is abundant in protected sea life. Snorkel, swim and play in the ocean playground stopping off at the beautiful Gemstone Bay and Mares Leg on the way.
